Please help get the approximately 50,000 signatures of registered Maryland voters needed to force referendum on the new in-state tuition law. Before this year's legislative session, social conservatives were told by GOP leaders to keep quiet about devisive social issues, because the legislature needed to focus on jobs, jobs, jobs. I didn't notice the Democrats lighten up on their rush to redefine our society, however. One of the bills that was passed this year by our state legislature provides that students who are here ilegally are nonetheless eligible for in-state tuition rates at our public colleges and universities.
Here in Maryland, any new law passed by legislative bodies can be put to referendum if enough voters in the jurisdiction sign petition to do so. There's a time limit on submitting the petition. We need 56,000 valid signatures submitted by the last day of June, with at least 19,000 of them submitted by last day of May.
The requirements for this type of petition are a bit different than the petitioning we've been doing to get Maryland Independent Party recognized by the state. Our party petition can be easily printed on a single side of a piece of paper. The referendum petition requires double-sided printing, so that each signature sheet has the text of the bill being challenged.
I encourage all Marylanders to help this petition drive. And it presents a great opportunity to get your AIP precinct caucus started up, too, where you can pass around signature sheets for the referendum petition as well as the Maryland Independent Party petition (we need only 10,000 signatures for that one).
The organizers of the referendum petition have clearly put a lot of thought into how to succeed. They plan to have a web-based system in place by Tuesday to make it easy for families to ensure that their signatures will be considered valid, by using voter registration database to print out a signature sheet with the names exactly as registered. Many signatures have been disallowed in recent years because of failure of signer to provide name exactly matching the registered name (if you are registered as John C. Smith, for example, it's not considered valid if you write John Smith or John Christopher Smith).
The referendum petition website has petition forms for download and much more information, including talking points about why the new law is objectionable. http://www.mdpetitions.com
The petition form for getting Maryland Independent Party recognized is available at http://www.MarylandIndependentParty.org
Thanks to Delegate Neil Parrott of Washington County for organizing the petition drive. Thanks also to Delegate Pat McDonough of Baltimore County for his leadership on this referendum. And a special thanks to the folks at Help Save Maryland for publicizing the petition drive as part of their excellent continuing efforts.

Join in on the Chick-Fil-A BuyCott
It is collectively showing appreciation for a company by purchasing their products or services – the opposite of a boycott.
You probably didn't hear about this on the evening news or read about it in the newspaper, but after a Chick-fil-A restaurant in Pennsylvania donated some sandwiches and brownies to a marriage seminar hosted by the Pennsylvania Family Institute, pro-homosexual activists went ballistic. According to syndicated columnist Michelle Malkin:
- Several left-wing activist blogs launched an all-out attack on Chick-fil-A.
- Some started calling the company's main product "Jesus Chicken."
- They mocked and belittled the company's "Not Open on Sunday" policy.
- They smeared company employees, calling them "anti-gay."
- One individual – Michael Jones – started an online petition campaign "demanding" that Chick-fil-A renounce "extreme anti-gay groups."
- Users of Facebook organized witch hunts on college campuses.
- In a feature article that ran in the New York Times' Sunday A-section, reporter Kim Severson attacked Chick-fil-A saying it is "anti-gay."
All that because one Chick-fil-A franchise donated a few sandwiches to a seminar aimed at helping couples strengthen their marriages. That reaction certainly seems like making a mountain out of a mole hill. You get the sense that there's more to this attack on Chick-fil-A than meets the eye. And you're right. There is. Chick-fil-A operates on Biblical principles and that irritates secularists.
- For Example:
- Chick-fil-A plays Christian music in its restaurants ... exclusively.
- Chick-fil-A closes all its locations on Sunday ... no exceptions.
- Chick-fil-A's stated corporate purpose is: 1) To glorify God by being a faithful steward of all that is entrusted to us; and 2) To have a positive influence on all who come in contact with Chickfil-A.
Please plan to dine at a Chick-fil-A restaurant the week of April 25-30. When you pay for your meal, take a moment to thank them for standing for Christian values as well as print off and hand them the PDF card at http://www.afa.net/buycott/images/Chick-fil_A_card.pdf so they'll know you are from AFA.

| Now Is Our Time - Pass It On! Please share this 30-second clip about the need for a Parental Rights Amendment. It raises questions. The answers can be found at ParentalRights.org. Please pass it on to all your friends, post it to your Facebook wall, or otherwise pass it on! The risk is too great - we dare not lose the fight for parental rights. If we do, we lose our children, our society, and our future. |

Call Blitz for SR99 - Now running
Goal: 40 cosponsors for the Senate resolution that opposes U.S. ratification of the UN's Convention on the Rights of the Child.
Who Do I Call?: Check this page to find out which Senators are already on board, and which ones need a call. Then call your senators whose numbers are provided on that page.
Suggested Script: If your Senator is a Republican: "Hi, my name is _____ and I am a constituent of Senator ________. I want to encourage the Senator to support SR99. I care about American sovereignty my parental rights and would like to see my Senator stand against dangerous encroachment from UN treaties." If your representative is a Democrat: "Hi, my name is _____ and I am a constituent of Senator ________. I want to encourage my Senator to support SR99. I care about America's sovereignty and my parental rights and would like to see my Senator work to protect them. Halting the U.N. Child Rights Convention enjoys bipartisan support at the state level, so I don't understand why Democrats in Washington insist on staying out-of-step on this issue." |

Danger: Transgender Bill Alive Again
Your calls and emails are needed again. Please take action. This is an attack on truth and religious freedom. Information about the bill and senate contact info is below (and also attached). Thank you for your tireless efforts in defeating this year's bad legislation. We're not done yet.
Call the committee members first; but because of the short time left, please contact all the senators. You can send blind copies of emails saying VOTE NO to HB 235
The LGBT community bombarded the senators all last week; we need to do that now. The bill is labeled "anti-discrimination". That is not the true thrust of the bill. The bill denies the basic fact that there are only two genders, male and female. The bill would use the power of the state to mandate public acceptance of an identity disorder, to teach it as normal to our children, and to prosecute those who disagree.
What Bill #235 does
The Maryland bill uses the force of law to impose cross-dressing, transgenderism, and a range of related behaviors and affectations into society against the will of citizens with traditional values or religious beliefs.
· Most importantly, this bill completely ignores the fact that the medical community considers "gender identity disorder" a mental illness. It ignores the fact that attempting to change one's sex is biologically impossible. Every single human cell contains chromosomes which identify whether we are male or female. That cannot be changed. And it ignores widespread medical observations that using mutilation, surgery, hormone treatments, etc., to try to change one's sex generally leads to worse psychological problems for the individual, including suicide attempts. ( Johns Hopkins Hospital stopped performing "transgender" operations several years ago for those reasons.)
· It requires all Maryland employers including government agencies to hire, promote, and include cross-dressers in every part of the workplace without discrimination. Business owners will be helpless - under threat of lawsuit or punishment - not to have men in dresses waiting on customers, etc.
·
· It also extends to public schools and even day-care centers, which will legally be unable to turn away cross-dressers and "transgenders" from teaching or working with children. (A bill is moving forward in the California Legislature today that would require all public schools - and all textbooks - to actively portray homosexuality and transgenderism / cross-dressing in a positive light.)
· It will require transgenderism, cross-dressing, and related behaviors to be considered legally normal. Thus, activists can compel schools to have transgender assemblies and similar activities including library books promoting transgenderism. This will also lead to transgender diversity training in businesses.
· All real estate transactions are covered -- people have no choice when renting or selling units or homes.
· Since transgender employees may not be discriminated against in the workplace, they cannot be restricted to using male or female restrooms in stores, restaurants, bars, schools, day care facilities, or other places of employment.
· Employers may not require a genetic test to determine the actual sex of an employee or applicant.
· The bill defines "gender identity" as "a gender-related identity or appearance of an individual regardless of the individual's assigned sex at birth." This opens the door to a wide range of behaviors and interpretations by activists. This definition also clearly denies biological reality.
It is essentially a state-sponsored war against traditional religious belief.

Tell Your Reps. To Vote No on SB510 (America has a right to farm, hunt, & fish!)
Senate bill #510 is couched as a "Food Safety" bill to keep us from poisoning ourselves by outlawing home gardens, herbs, hunting and fishing. Manchin voted aye on this one too! Now West Virginia is one of the most economically deprived states in the union. Over 60% of it's people hunt, fish, and almost everybody grows gardens, cans, and freezes our own products. In checking with many of our local hospitals on how many people were admitted locally from home poisonings of vegetables, meat and/or fish not one person was admitted going back 5 years in the Eastern panhandle of WV.
Yet Manchin would have us under this "Monsanto-sponsored" bill. Monsanto, for those who do not know, is the big corporation Obama likes (wonder why). They are the ones who 'genetically modify terminator seeds.' This is so we have to buy them new each year. We have no idea what chemicals they pour on those seeds to get them to die each year. There are no studies on how these chemicals will affect us on the cellular level, or on our children genetically, but it won't be good! Monsanto thinks we'll harm ourselves. Monsanto has more toxic chemicals in everything it produces than we could dream up. This bill is a joke called a "Food Safety" bill when we really need a "Monsanto Safety" bill.
This won't shock you, because here is a Monsanto ad: http://twg2a.wordpress.com/2010/11/29/sb-510-food-modernization-act-passed...
After this Senate showed they are no different than the last one, this bill now goes to The House...probably very quietly. We need to raise the cry and contact our Representatives to vote this thing down once and for all. America has a right to farm, we have a right to hunt and fish, and no government should be so over-reaching! Americans have a right not to be poisoned by our government! To reach each and every representative you can go to:
Be sure to go to Ohio and tell John Boehner how important it is to not pass this bill:
Joe Manchin's term ends Jan. 3, 2013...oh will it ever get here?? Until then West Virginians will visit his site and make our dissatisfaction known!
